The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) presented Otay Water District with the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for 2012 . The GFOA is a nonprofit professional association serving 17,600 government finance professionals throughout North America.
In addition, the 2012 budget also received special recognition as “Outstanding as a Policy Document” and “Outstanding as a Communications Device".

The GFOA is a nonprofit professional association serving 17,600 government finance professionals throughout North America.

The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) presented a Distinguished Budget Presentation Award to Otay Water District for its annual budget for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2011. The GFOA is a nonprofit professional association serving 17,600 government finance professionals throughout North America. The Distinguished Budget Presentation Awards program is the only national award in governmental budgeting. In order to receive this award, a governmental unit must publish a budget document that meets program criteria as a policy document, an operations guide, financial plan, and a communications device.

The American Society of Civil Engineers, San Diego Section, presented its 2010 Award of Excellence to the Otay Water District and Lee & Ro, Inc. for the Jamacha Road Pipeline Project. The award was presented in 2011.

The Municipal Information Systems Association of California presented the Award for Excellence in Information Technology Practices to Otay Water District. The award recognizes outstanding practices in Information Technology that have met or surpassed local government standards. The award was given to the District's Information Technology and Strategic Planning Department.

Project of the Year 2011 - American Public Works Assoc. San Diego-Imperial Chapter
The American Public Works Association, San Diego – Imperial County Chapter, gave its 2011 Project of the Year Award to the Otay Water District for the Jamacha Pipeline Project. This 5-mile potable water pipeline runs from El Cajon to Rancho San Diego.
