JAMACHA PIPELINE PROJECT UNDERWAY

10/21/2009

Spring Valley, CA - The Jamacha Road Pipeline project is officially underway. The $16.2 million, 5.1-mile long, pipeline construction project will run from Rancho San Diego to the city of El Cajon.

Construction crews from CCL Contracting Inc. have begun excavating a trench to install 40-foot sections of 36-inch diameter steel pipe. Initial construction activity began near the intersection of Fury Lane and Via Rancho San Diego Parkway in Rancho San Diego, and continued in areas along the southern property line of Cuyamaca College.

In the coming weeks, construction activity will shift to the intersection of Brabham Street and Jamacha Road as construction proceeds northbound on Jamacha Road toward El Cajon.

Once complete in the fall of 2010, the new pipeline will deliver up to 12 million gallons per day of treated water to Otay Water District customers. The pipeline and two new water reservoirs represent a $50 million investment in East County water infrastructure.
