1. Detachable invoice portion of your bill: Please include this with your payment in the envelope provided. 2. Account Number: Refer to this number when your inquire about your account. Write it on your check if paying by mail. 3. Service Address: May be different from the mailing address.
4. Service Dates: Typical cycle is 28 to 31 days. 5. Due Date: Payment made after this date may be subject to a 5% late charge. 6. Meter Reading: These are the readings taken from the meter on the specified read dates. 7. Current Charges • Monthly Water System Fee: Each water customer pays a monthly system charge for water system replacement, maintenance and operation expenses. The charge is based on the size of the meter and class of service. This fee has been calculated to recover 50-55% of the fixed costs associated with delivering water. • Water Charge: Shows the actual reads from your water meter, the total number of units of water used and the water cost. • Energy Charge: The energy (pumping) charge is based on the quantity of water used and the elevation to which the water has been lifted to provide service. The energy charge is at the rate of $.037 per 100 cubic feet of water for each 100 feet of lift above the base elevation of 450 feet. All water customers are in one of twenty-nine zones based on elevation. • Local betterment project charges: The charge for local betterment projects is collected from customers who will benefit from storage and needed in their specific area. These fees are set aside by the District to be used solely for payment of costs and/or borrowings for construction, installation and maintenance of water storage, reservoirs, pump stations and water lines. • Infrastructure Access Charge (IAC): The IAC is a pass-through charge from the San Diego county Water Authority (SDCWA) to each member agency. The charge is to finance a portion of SDCWA's fixed annual costs, including the construction, operation and maintenance of aqueducts and emergency storage projects. The fee was adopted in January of 1999.
8. Current Charges: This represents the current months bill only and gives due date for the current months bill. 9. Previous Balance: Any amounts that are past due will appear in this section and give additional due dates as applicable. 10. Total Due: This represents all charges that are currently owing on the customers account. 11. Statement portion of the bill: Keep this portion for your records. 12. Notes and messages section: Watch here for important information from your water district. 13. Your Monthly Usage: The number indicates the amount of water used during the billing period. This figure is in hundred cubic feet (hcf). 1 HCF=748 gallons.
14. Information Update: Please let us know if we need to update any information on your customer account. Not shown are sewer service charges from Otay or the City of Chula Vista, which will be listed for customers in those service areas. Also not shown are the various other charges and notes that may appear on the bill for our commercial and other non-residential accounts.
