Guidelines

Qualifying
properties must have a least 2,000 square feet
of irrigated landscape

Controllers must be
selected from the current list of eligible
models

replace existing non-weather-based controllers.
Controllers must be installed by qualified
licensed contractors from the list of
contractors provided by manufacturers. (does not
apply to properties with in-house landscape
maintenance staff.)

installed as part of new construction do not
qualify.

Smart Landscape Grant
This program is to replace existing irrigation
equipment with new, efficient equipment and
hardware.

Multi-family: up to $2,500.00 per acre
($5,000.00 maximum)

Commercial Sites: up to $5,000.00

Public sites: up to $10,000.00
Larger Sites may be eligible for more than one
grant. Funds will not be provided for labor, plant
materials, delivery or installation. Manufacturer
List Price will be used as a basis for determining
reimbursement.

Cash for Plants
The Otay Water District will pay you up to $6,500 to
replace your turf grass with water-wise shrubs or
groundcovers. Choose from hundreds of California
Friendly plants. Receive $1.00 per square foot to
replace unused irrigated turf grass with appropriate
water-wise plants, and up to $500.00 of the cost of
hiring either a landscape designer or architect.
Funding is limited, so submit your application
today. Approval is needed before proceeding with
your project.
Water Budget Program
This program is designed to help customers
efficiently manage the watering of their landscape.
A monthly performance report, as well as a suggested
monthly water allocation (water budget) for each
dedicated irrigation meter, will be sent to those
who are over their allotted water budget. An annual
water budget report will be provided for each
dedicated meter. For more information call

Large Landscape Audit
An acceptable landscape appearance with minimum
water use requires an irrigation system that is well
designed, properly installed, well maintained and
properly scheduled. A certified landscape auditor
will evaluate the efficiency of your irrigation
system and give you a report with water efficiency
suggestions for your site. A limited number of
