July is a peak month for outdoor water use, but a great time to improve your irrigation efficiency! Here are tips to help you save during Smart Irrigation Month:
Water during the coolest time of the day instead of the hottest when more than a third of water can be lost to evaporation.
Use 2 to 4 inches of mulch around plants, bushes, and trees to reduce evaporation, moderate soil temperatures, and help control weeds.
The District’s water recycling facility is capable of producing up to 1.3 million gallons of recycled water per day to use for irrigation. Recycled water for irrigation and industrial processes minimizes the demand for imported potable water, provides a local drought-proof supply, and diversifies the District’s sources.
